There’s this lovely tag doing the blogging rounds, and it was sent my way yesterday via my Michigan foodie friend Sadie, from Sadie’s Nest. Our mutual friend Anna, from Life Bellissima has also given me the sweetest mention and so here I am writing up mine. I thank both of you lovely ladies from the bottom of my heart for your friendship and generosity of spirit, and for taking the time to blog your recipes and posting updates on your families and lives.
I’ve said before that I don’t take as many photos as I would like whenever I’m in my favourite place. And the second trip to London last month is another confirmation of that. Going through the album I managed to edit a few which I liked, but unfortunately I had to discard quite a number. Which left me with these.
As much as I love taking care and updating C&T, sometimes it takes a lot out of me. I’m not complaining, but there are times when all I want to do is wind down and not constantly think about the next thing I should write about. Spending time in the kitchen is, of course one of the best uses of my time, but there are days when going out into the world seems more appealing. Walking is a stress-buster. I love to walk, as long as it’s not in the middle of nowhere and there are people around. This reminds me of the countless times I walked into Guildford. I used to find it so relaxing that I rarely bothered using the buses. I haven’t been going for walks often this past year. The summer heat doesn’t help but today I managed a short stroll, which was fun.
I have spent my morning and afternoon roaming around Guildford, taking in the place. I walked around the centre, recorded some sights, bought myself a healthy lunch and made my way up to the Castle. I took my small camera with me to take a few video snippets.
I’m trying to teach myself how to vlog. I shouldn’t have said that. My SLR didn’t come with me today. I really wasn’t in the mood to carry heavy stuff in my backpack anyway. These days I have given up on handbags: nothing fits in them anymore. They are currently also packed in a plastic box ready to be shipped. (People, if you’re not into nostalgia, then please just skip this part. Thankfully there’s a recipe in here somewhere!) I was prepared to walk into town, knowing that I would enjoy the stroll. I arrived there around 9 am, feeling sticky to the core, because with Ellie Goulding singing in my ear for the last ten minutes or so, I almost ran the last leg. I should have listened to Clannad instead. Weather like this, (I’m subconsciously bracing myself for Malta here) is good for sipping a cold drink under an umbrella, with some food, of course.
