This morning I realised that this blog has been active for six years, almost to the date. I was going to let this pass without any acknowledgement, but J insisted. So here I am, and we meet again. However do I really need an excuse for another coffee date? Was the latest one in June? Shish!
So after we stand and wait for our cappuccinos, first and foremost I want to properly wish you a Happy New Year! I hope that 2017 has started off well for you. The ‘with a bang’ thing is not that important. What 2016 has taught me is how much I shouldn’t take anything for granted and to live one day at a time. I’m not going to lecture you – there’s no need to. I just want to thank you for being there. What are your plans for this year? I don’t get the concept of resolutions but writing down some thoughts works for me.

There’s this lovely tag doing the blogging rounds, and it was sent my way yesterday via my Michigan foodie friend Sadie, from Sadie’s Nest. Our mutual friend Anna, from Life Bellissima has also given me the sweetest mention and so here I am writing up mine. I thank both of you lovely ladies from the bottom of my heart for your friendship and generosity of spirit, and for taking the time to blog your recipes and posting updates on your families and lives.

There’s not a lot I can say here, except that I bought this beautiful veg and fruit box a few weeks back. I was so happy with it that I snapped a few pictures as soon as it was delivered to me, at around 9.30pm on a weekday night. You wouldn’t think so though because J immediately held up the flash and reflector for me when he saw me reach out for my camera. It turned out pretty well.

C&T has by now become quite the fixture in my life. I find myself thinking about new recipes and reviews continuously, especially when I’m doing the usual mundane things, which most of the time are house chores. Stirring a soup in the kitchen is also included in this list, although funnily enough it’s not as boring as it seems for me. Anyways, all this is to tell you that I feel I haven’t had a proper catch up with you in ages.
A few months ago, I registered for a couple of online short courses with WordPress. One of the writing tasks was exactly like this – a kind of coffee chat/date, and I’m thinking about making it a series on this blog. I’ll try to post them regularly, although not that often as to become mind-numbingly tedious! That’s not my plan at all. I don’t keep a journal for various reasons, however this format of blog writing could serve me well.

I planned to continue working on a book review today but things are definitely not going to plan. This is happening so often lately. I know I say it so often to make your eyes and ears explode (such an exaggeration, really!) but these past few weeks I just haven’t had time to do anything. My writing almost went down the drain, and I can barely go through the day without feeling like a zombie by the afternoon. So although I have been posting regularly once a week, things on C&T were a little quiet on my end.
However I didn’t want to go through this week without posting something. I will have another post up because I know some of you are waiting for a particular book review. I plan to have that for you in a few days.

The above photo is another throwback. You might have noticed by now that I tend to take loads of shots, which I process/edit but then remain stacked in my folders simply because I forget about them completely.

I’ve said before that I don’t take as many photos as I would like whenever I’m in my favourite place. And the second trip to London last month is another confirmation of that. Going through the album I managed to edit a few which I liked, but unfortunately I had to discard quite a number. Which left me with these.
